I have a problem that I need a confirmation on:
Suppose Jeff and Penelope have to assemble 3000 visitor packets for the upcoming convention. Jeff can complete the job in six hours. Penelope can complete the job in four hours. Working together, how long will it take them to assemble the visitor packets.
First I made a graph depicting that Penelope can do the 1/4 of the job in one hour and Jeff 1/6 in one hour. Combined, they can do 5/12 of the job in one hour. I then did worked out the 2hr. and 3hr. for the both of them but 2hr. is too small and 3hr. is too big. So I then did:
. . .5/12 x t = 1
. . .t = 12/5 x 1
My answer is 2 2/5 hr. Did I do all this correctly?
