Hi kamran. I'm not sure what you're studying. Have you been learning about putting an augmented matrix in row echelon form? From that form, we can get information about whether a system is consistent or not. For example, have you seen the following?



If we put a matrix into row echelon form, and the bottom row has all zeros except for the rightmost element, then there's no solution (as shown in the example above). That rightmost element would need to be equal zero, above, in order for that example to be consistent.) When the matrix from your system is put into row echelon form, we can see why the system is inconsistent if c is not 2a-3b.

Otherwise, if you're not working with a matrix, please show us what you've tried or explain why you're stuck Cheers

Or simply write 2a-3b in terms of x's and you will see why it has to equal c to be consistent.

Of course, Otis and Harry the Cat are assuming you know what "inconsistent" means here! Do you?
