Use a calculator to solve or evaluate the following

3^(x-2) = 30

I don't know how to use a calculator to solve this so I tried doing it without a calculator.

log3^(x-2) = log30
x-2log3 = log3 + log10
(x-2)log30 - (x-2)log10 = log3 + log 10
(x-2)log30 - x + 2 = log 3 + log10

I don't think this is getting my anywhere though. Please help. Thank you!

(x-2)log30 - (x-2)log10 = log3 + log 10 ...How did you get that
(x-2)log30 - x + 2 = log 3 + log10

3^(x-2) = 30

(x-2) * log 3 = log 30

x - 2 = log 30/(log 3)

x = 2 + log 30/(log 3)

You could, perhaps, write it as \(\displaystyle \L\\\frac{log(270)}{log(3)}\).

Just a thought.
