How can this statement be made true by usung the numbers 1 thru 9 only once.

____/_____x_____+____x____x _____/_____+_____x_____= 100

Have you learned about Order of Operations ? That is crucial.

This type of exercise is solved by trial-and-error.

After you've made enough errors, you will begin to make more intelligent guesses.

This is not a rhetorical question because I can't see what you're doing.

Are you confident that your arithmetic follows the proper order of operations ?

ok how about this

( __ x __ ) + ( __ x __ x __ ) / __ + ( __ x __ ) / __ = 100

I don't recognize this because it's missing some grouping symbols.

I was hoping for a simple "yes" or "no" answer, but that's okay.

Based on your original post, I would write it like this:

[( ? / ? )( ? )] + [( ? )( ? )( ? )/( ? )] + [( ? )( ? )] = 100

In other words, do the arithmetic inside the square brackets first, then add those three numbers together.

If you would like more clarification on the Order of Operations, please discuss a specific example.

Otherwise, continue with trial-and-error.
