Hi,can somebody plz help me out to solve this problem

Mixture problem : A forester mixes gasoline and oil to make 2 gallons of mixture for his two cycle chain saw engine.This mixture is 32 parts gasoline and 1 part two-cycle oil.How much gasoline must be added to bring the mixture to 40 parts gasoline and 1 part oil ?

I have tried a lot for this and i am getting 8 bcoz i don't get how to form eqation in this kind of problem

So can u plz atleast give me a hint will be great help

So you have found that he needs to add eight parts. But eight parts of which substance? And how much of a gallon does this represent?

Okay. Now 32 parts gasoline and 1 part oil had gone into the original mix, totalling two gallons. That's 33 parts in two gallons. So how much was each "part"?

This will tell you how much (in measurable units) needs to be added.
