I have to figure out this problem and I don't understand it. Can someone help me.... please!

All the instructions say is to multiply. Can someone tell me how to do this please, and what the answer would be? Thanks very much ahead of time.

A good first step might be to factor the numerators and denominators of the two fractions. :wink:

For instance, pc - pd + qc - qd = (pc - pd) + (qc - qd) = p(c - d) + q(c - d) = ..., and so forth. Quite a lot should cancel out.
