Need help on Slope & Y-Intercept

Hello, I have an equation that I need help on. I need to find the slope:

2x + y = 1

The form is ax + by = c but I don't know how to translate it into Slope - intercept form...

Another problem is similar to that one, but it is arranged even more different:

(y - 8) = 4(x - 3)

Once again, I need to find the slope and Y intercept. :?
 
The slope-intercept form is y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
Example: Given --- 4x+3y=2

4x+3y=2
3y = -4x + 2
y = (-4/3)x + (2/3)

That's \(\displaystyle y=-\frac{4}{3}x+\frac{2}{3}\)

The slope is -4/3 and the y-intercept is at (0,2/3).

I should save this for my notes, thanks to my teacher, I will write all these facts down for a big test, and after that It will be remembered in my head for the Final Exam.

I learned more today than in my whole semester of algebra, as I can see I wasn't ready for it. I still took it (I am 8th grade, you must take it 9th)

Well, what about the 2nd form I posted above, do the same instructions apply?
 
Yes. Your second problem is slightly different in that you have to remove the parenthesis first. Follow the rules for doing so (don't just throw them away) then do whatever is necessary to get your equation into the slop-intercept form. Whatever you do to one side of the equation, you must do to the other side.
