:( need help with this problem
16x( x - 2) = 8x + 25

16xx - 32x + 8x - 25 = 0

16xx - 24x - 25 = 0

( x - 24) ( x + 1) = 0

Where are you stuck? You multiplied out the left-hand side, moved all the terms together onto one side of the "equals" sign, and... then what? What method did you apply to solve the quadratic? How far did you get?

Please be complete. Thank you! :D

Nope. Check sign for 8x.

16x( x - 2) = 8x + 25

16xx - 32x - 8x - 25 = 0

16x^2 - 40x - 25 = 0

Now factorize the above quadratic equation ...

16xx - 24x - 25 = 0

( x - 24) ( x + 1) = 0

Note: In future threads, please reply with corrections, as edits are frequently overlooked and tend to confuse the "conversation". Thank you.

The product of x with itself, what you have written as "xx", is "x squared", or "x^2". Has your class not covered exponents or multiplying polynomials yet?

Also, to move the 8x to the left-hand side, you need to subtract, not add.

How did you arrive at this point? (The "16" is gone, etc, so many steps would appear to be missing.) It will be helpful if you could show all of your steps. Thank you.
