Need help with something involving the mean value theorem!

I really need help with this task, so if anyone could post an answer with an explenation, I would be soooo happy! (I don't need an explenation of the mean value theorem, just how you use it in this task.)


"Use the mean value theorem to show that

arctan x > x/(1+x^2)

for x>0."

Okay; what, exactly, does the Mean Value Theorem say?

If you use the function f(x) = arctan(x) - x/(1 + x^2), how might the Theorem be applied? How might this function be related to the inequality?
