Find the measures of an angle such that the sum of the measures of its complement and its supplement is 174.
(90-x)=complement (180-x)=supplement
(90-x)+(180-x)=174
Combine like terms:
90+180+-x+-x=174
270+2x=174
Get the variable on one side by itself:
270-270+2x=174-270
2x=96 then divide 2x=96
2x=2x
x=48. 90-48=42 180-48=134 42+134=174
This is what I came up with. Thank you for your help ahead of time.
