Need some help solving this equation

(x-9)^6 - 13(x-9)^3 + 42 = 0

Let [imath]v=(x-9)^3[/imath], then the equation becomes [imath]v^2-13v+42=0[/imath]. Notice the equation has been reduced to a quadratic. Can you continue?
