L Loren Senior Member Joined Aug 28, 2007 Messages 1,298 Apr 1, 2009 #2 tanx - sec^2x/tanx means \(\displaystyle \tan x-\frac{\sec^2 x}{\tan x}\) and I don't think that simplifies to -cot x.
