Hey, I'm having a bit of trouble with dividing in equations. The one I've been working on is the following:

6x+x+x/4=450 (the / stands for divided by)

So far, I've been able to get to the following point:

7x+x/4=450

I understand everything up to here, but I'm not sure on the proper way of cancelling out by dividing.

Re: Having a bit of help with dividing in equations.

An acceptable "next step" would be to multiple both sides of the equation by the lcd, 4.

Re: Having a bit of help with dividing in equations.

So that would cancel out the "fraction" part on the left side?

x/4 * 4 = x
Don't forget ALL terms must be multiplied by 4.
