I am trying to non-dimensionalise this equation:

z/sqrt(Cv/v*e)

z-penetration [m]
Cv- coefficient of consolidation m^2/s
e- volume strain
v- velocity [m/s]

I want to non dimensionalise this equation but not sure how to go about it

Is NOT an equation. It does not have = sign in there.

Please post the complete problem - as it was presented to you.

z/sqrt(Cv/v*e)

As written the expression means z/sqrt((Cv/v)*e) -- just wanted to make sure that you did not mean z/sqrt((Cv/(v*e)).
Also, is "volume strain" dimensionless? If yes then the dimension of your expression is sqrt(m).
