Optimization problem with crazy hard algebra

To clarify I'm plugging y=(6-x)^(1/2) into the area formula xy then finding the derivative then having algebra problems.

I will guess that the "answer" relates in some manner to whatever is being referenced in the subject line. But we're not in your room, so we can't see what you're talking about until you tell us. Sorry.

When you reply, please include a clear explanation of what you mean when you say that you understand each of the steps of the solution (?) but not the algebra in the steps of the solution. Thank you!
