Can someone help me do step-by-step to find the answers available?

Hi Lisatindall,
I would compute the mean of the given dataset as-is. Let's call this value you x.
Next, I would compute the mean of the dataset without the -6, and call this value y.
Next, I would compute the mean of the dataset without the 14, and call this value z.
Once you have all the values, you can compare the difference:
x-y=?
x-z=?
This should answer your question.
:)

What definition have you been given for "outlier" [not outliner]?

What was it that you did? What are the answers you tried that didn't work?
