I got the x-coordinate using similar triangles, I just need help figuring out the y-coordinate

Excellent. Too bad no one can see your work. Please make an effort to communicate.

y should be in terms of x and t. If you sub your x coordinate back into y, this will give you y in terms of t alone.

Ok. The original problem is this:

A 12 foot ladder is placed on an xy-axis. The end of the ladder moves to the right along the x-axis at the rate of 3 ft/sec. The end of B, the top of the ladder against the wall, moves downward along the y-axis.

(a) Suppose a monkey is at a point M on the ladder. Find parametric equations for the path of the monkey who starts climbing up the ladder at point A when the ladder is vertical (t=0) and moves along the ladder towards point B at the rate of 2 ft/sec. Use time t as a parameter. Hint: Recall d=rt and use similar triangles
