On Saturday, some identical tables in a shop were sold at $45 each. On Sunday, the price of the tables was reduced. As a result, the number of tables sold increased by 50% while the amount of money collected increased by 25%.
(a) Find the price of a table sold on Sunday.
(b) Find the percentage decrease in the price of a table sold on Sunday.

Hello. That looks like an interesting exercise; there are different ways to answer the questions. Has your class been working with algebra, writing equations and using substitution to find unknown values? Or maybe you've been studying proportions with percents and percentages, and this exercise is intended to get you thinking symbolically. Please share your situation and work that you've started or thought about (such as picking symbols or forming ratios), and we'll go from there. Thank you!
