However, there might be a problem for some people in that strictly speaking according to the order of operations convention
(b + 3)/4b + (5b + 1)/2b means \(\displaystyle \frac{b+3}{4}\cdot b + \frac{5b+1}{2}\cdot b\) even though most people would interpret as you did. So, to be accurate with no doubts about what is meant you would write as
(b + 3)/(4b) + (5b + 1)/(2b).
