The principle used is that:

The diagonals of a rhombus, perpendicularly bisects each other.

There are different methods taught in different classes. (For example, are you working within an xy-coordinate system?)

I do not know what class you're in, so I do not know what you're studying.

One way is to find the midpoint of the segment, then draw a perpendicular line through that point.
