I'm having some difficulty with the concept of finding the critical value of y for hypothesis testing. I've read numerous examples from my textbooks, and understand the concept of the two hypothesis and two type of errors. I can't seem to understand how to find the critical value of y.

An example in my text provides n=25, H0:p=0.5, and H1:p=0.3. a is already set at 0.05. I know I have to use the tables at the back of my book, but I'm stuck on how to find the critical value of y and the acceptance regions.

I know this may be a dumb question, but if someone could please help I'd greatly appreciate it!! Thanks in advance!

You'll need a distribution, probably Binomial?

You'll need a mean and sample standard deviation.

Calculate and get back to it.
