if what you are looking for is to simplify the statement then

3(x-2) + 2 + 2(4-4)

3x - 6 + 2 + 0

3x - 4

or if the above statement was solve for x (assume the original statement equals zero)

then
0 = 3x-4
4 = 3x

4/3 = x
