how do you algebraically simplify -x[sup:me0c5rqy]-1[/sup:me0c5rqy] +1-(x-1)(x[sup:me0c5rqy]-2[/sup:me0c5rqy]) to ((1/x)-1)[sup:me0c5rqy]2[/sup:me0c5rqy]

Apply the definition of negative exponents.

Multiply everything out and combine like-terms.

Recognize the special factoring pattern: (a - 1)^2 = a^2 - 2a + 1, where a = 1/x
