Please help me! I just started solving quadratic functions and i don't know if i am doing this right!!!!

-16ksquared = 20ksquared + 24ksquared =5
the first thing i did was "try" to put it in standard form..
which i got: 36ksquared + 24k + 5 = 0
and then i did the a = 36ksquared b = 24 and c=5

then i used this formula to get my solution..

D=bsquared - 4ac
& i got this..
D = 24ksquared - 4(36)(5)

after that i solved for it and i got -160...

then i used the quadratic formula which is X= -24 +- the square root of -160 over 2a

and i got.... -24+- the square root of -160 over 72..

i don't know what to do next! :(
please help![/tex]

first off, right here:

-16ksquared = 20ksquared + 24ksquared =5

why is there an equal sign?

Why do you have two = signs? Let g(x) = -16k^2, let h(x) = 44k^2

g(x) does not equal h(x), if it did than all we would need would would be g(x) = 5

Please check your work and or exercise!

C'mon Jellybean; repost PROPERLY;
and for ksquared, use k^2
