What is the formula used to solve the following?

If business A cost 250,000 to buy and nets 51,000 to buy and business B cost 229,000 and nets 38,000. Which one makes the most money for the least amount of cost?

Please “ spell out” or explain in simple terms or formula like 250,000 divided by 51,000
Thanks

Re: Simple! for you maybe-can you help?

Sorry. Part of the learning of mathematics is learning to communicate. For this reason, you do not get to specify language useage. You must LEARN it.

In any case, your question makes no sense. I'm still musing on this part, "and nets 51,000 to buy ". Why are we buying it twice?

Please copy the problem EXACTLY. If you did, please take it to the author for correction.

Normally, one would consider the excess of the selling price over the purchase price to be the Net Income or Net Profit.

Business A must have sold for 301,000, since 250,000 + 51,000 = 301,000

The UNIT profit is the Total Profit / Total Purchase Price

Please just remove "To Buy" thanks

from where - which one? one of those? - both of those?

Your statement:

What is the formula used to solve the following? If business A cost 250,000 to buy and nets 51,000 to buy and business B cost 229,000 and nets 38,000. Which one makes the most money for the least amount of cost?
Please “ spell out” or explain in simple terms or formula like 250,000 divided by 51,000
Thanks

Why don't you rewrite the problem - this time post it EXACTLY as it was presented to you - it will be better for you and easier for us.

...and show your efforts. That will brighten our day just a bit.

The given information is NOT "simple" at all ...

Which one makes the most money for the least amount of cost? ? This is an unreferenced pronoun; therefore, it is ambiguous.

Your question does not make sense to me.

WHO is buying business A?

WHO is buying business B?

WHO nets $51,000?

WHO nets $38,000?

Are these nets profit from OPERATING the businesses for some set interval of time?

Are these nets profit from SELLING the businesses?

To what does the unreferenced pronoun "one" refer in your question. A business? A person?

In case you don't have a calculator:
51000 / 250000 = .204 or 20.4%
38000 / 229000 = .16593886... = 16.6%

So, when you asked for a "formula" for "250,000 divided by 51,000", you really meant a "value" for 51,000 divided by 250,000"...?

Note: Since you apparently don't have a calculator, even on your compter's Desktop, you might want to try using Google. Enter the computation into the search box (using the forward slash "/" for "divided by) to get the same value Dennis provided a month and a half ago. Next time you're out shopping, though, try to pick up a simple calculator. You should be able to find any number of adequate calculators for under fifteen or twenty bucks. Or you could try just doing the long division yourself, next time you need to divide. You can find lessons on how to do that on Google, too.
