I just have a couple questions about this type of problem.

y = 4(x-2)^2(x+2)^3

a) Determine the x and y intercepts and excluded region for the graph of the given function.

b) Describe the behavior of the function at each x intercept that responds a repeated factor.

c) Graph the function

Ok. I know how to graph it and find all of the intercepts, but what is an "excluded region" and how do I find it?

My second question is when I find the leading term, is the "x" included in that?
(4) (x)^2 (x)^3-----is it 4x^5 or just 4^5

Thank you!

There may not be an excluded region. It seems a bit vague, to me.

The leading coefficient is not the same as the leading term.

Thank you. I think I understand the difference between the leading term and the leading coefficient.

But what is an excluded region. I have never heard of it before.

That's the vague part. Does it mean in the Domain or in the Range? Maybe something else?

Oh, ok. I guess I will ask my professor tomorrow. I can't find what it means anywhere in the book or my notes. Thank you, though.
