A provincial government allocates 30% of its budget to education, 36% to health care, and 19% to social services.

If the dollar amount budgeted for education is $13.7 billion, how much is budgeted for health care and for social services? (Round to the nearest $0.01 billion.

well can I do

30:36:19 = 1370000:x:y

30x=36 x 1370000
x=1644000 or 16.44 billion

30y=19 x1370000
y= 867666.6667 or 8.68 billion

You will first need to DEFINE "what is x" and "what is y".
 
The best way for you to do this is to find the entire budget--just solve the equation from my last post. Then find the the budgets for health care and social services.
