I am meant to work out the Chi squared for the data but i am trying to figure out the expected. I am wondering what to do? I think that .75 of 6 is 4.5; but dont know how to proceed from there.

There are a total of 12+ 14+ 12+ 12= 50 packs of bulbs. 12 of the 50, 12/50= 0.24 have all 6 bulbs bloom, 14 of the 50, 14/50= 0.28 have 5 bulbs bloom, 12 of the 50, 12/50= 0.24 have 4 bulbs bloom and 12 of the 50, 12/50= 0.24 have 3 or fewer bloom. "3 or fewer" means "3 or 2 or 1 or 0" and I am going to take the mean, 1.5, to represent that.

Then the "average" is (0.24)(6)+ (0.28)(5)+ (0.24)(4)+ (0.24)(1.5)= 4.16. On average 4.15 bulbs bloom from each package.
