I understand that qualitative data comes from questions with information as the answer (ie: Do you use puffs, kleenex, or other) and that descriptive statistics can be used by counting the number of answers of each type of answer. This is as opposed to quantitative data, which is numbers.
I'm wondering about qualitative variables with multiple variables. Would the above example be considered having three variables - puffs, kleenex, and other?
And, would a yes/no question be considered one variable or two? Meaning is the yes option one variable and the no option another?
ie: Is price something you consider when deciding which brand of soda to buy?

I'm thinking about this a little more - would two variables mean that I get data from two different regions/demographics?
For example - I find out the answer to my above question about tissue brands from millenials and from baby boomers?
