Hi all,

This is my first post. Its been over 10 years since I studied maths in high school (Australia) and now I am back on the wagon studying maths to become a teacher post completing a Bachelor degree in Biology. I have always been interested in maths but have just had no need for it in my working career in the past 10 years. I wont lie, I have a lot to learn including terminology. Im not looking for answers but im looking to understand everything, why things are done, what its called. I thank you for your patience. Now the maths. Also I can clearly see that there are strict rules and I have read them but please pull me up on my misdeads and place threads where they belong (if I don't get them right).

The question I have been given is to simplify the expression:

[math]\bigg(\frac{a^3/^2b^2}{2a^2\sqrt{b}}\bigg)^{-2}[/math]
Note that is meant be bigg right bracket to the power of negative 2 (i just could not figure that out.

So im really struggling to figure out what to do with the radical espcially but im hopingto figure out the full process to double check i have the correct answer.

Regards,
