Give an appropriate response.

Find the limit of f(x) as x approaches 3 from the left.
f(x) = { 0 if x <3
{ x + 1 if 3 less than or equal to x greater then or equal to 4
{ 5 if x > 4

When I did it the first time I got 0 but it isnt checking correctly

I'm going to assume that your function is as follows:

. . . . .\(\displaystyle \large{f(x)\,= \,\left{\begin{array}{ll}0,&x\,<\,3\\x\,+\,1,&3\,\le\,x\,\le\,4\\5,&x\,>\,4\end{array}\right\)

And you are being asked to find:

. . . . .\(\displaystyle \large{\begin{array}{c}limit\\\,\\x\rightarrow\3^{-}\end{array}\,\,f(x)}\)

If you mean something else, please pardon my error and reply with clarification. In either case, please explain what you mean when you say that "it isn't checking correctly".

Thank you.

Eliz.

You're right. f(x) is moving along the x-axis as x approaches 3 from the left.

Draw a sketch to settle things.

Big bird I tried to help you and follow their directions and I got 5 for an answer. Please let me know what you get.

The original poster has already listed his/her answer, and had it confirmed. I'm afraid your answer is incorrect.
