the problem is:
“Divide 84 into two(2) parts in the ratio 3:11.”

and so far I got the following
11/3=3.67
84/3.67=22.89
Therefore:
3.67:22.89 = 3:11

That right? Lol

No!

What are the parts that you divided 84 into?

Is this a guessing game to find the number?
I’m confused...
12 and 7?
There is no guessing here! Simple algebra will do ...

Start with the two parts being (3*x) and (11*x) ........................ why?

3x+11x=84
x=6

Therefore the other is 84/6=14
6:14 = 3:11
our original problem was:

the problem is:
“Divide 84 into two(2) parts in the ratio 3:11.”

You are splitting 84 into two parts. What are the two parts?

This is hurting my brain. I’m obviously not that smart or I’m over thinking this

the problem is:
“Divide 84 into two(2) parts in the ratio 3:11.”

If you divide 84 into 42 and 42 - the ratio of those two parts 1:1 no 3:11 as reqiured by the problem.

Study response #5 where we suggested that the two parts are 3x and 11x and you found x = 6
