Hey, this is my first time here and im hoping i could get some help. I wasnt exactly sure what category this would go under so i posted here.

y=f(x) and y=-f(x) is a reflection on the x-axis
y=f(x) and y=f(-x) is a reflection on the y-axis

but what about for a reflection on the y=x line, would it look like this:

y=f(x) and x=f(y)

im not soo sure of myself and i think i guessed that lol please help, is that right?

thanks

One "definition" of inverses is "reflection about the line y = x", so, yes, a reflection about this line would product the inverse. Note: This inverse might not be a function, technically-speaking.

Yours was an intelligent question. I'm glad I could help a little. :wink: :D
