Rolle's theorem

q: prove p(x)=x^4 -2x^3 +6x^2 and s(x)=ax+b can have <2 intersection points. If b=1 prove there can only be 2 (=2).

this question was put under "rolle's theorem" chapter but I don't understand how to solve this with it. I figured how both eq. can intersect by drawing them but I can't prove mathematically.
