Hey, probably a little unorthodox of a question for the forum, but everyday i find myself needing a better justification for data sets and am at a point where i think i need to make a concerted effort to advance my math skills, particularly in the field of statistics. What would be some good resources to self study this niche of mathematics? I could follow along with random videos on YouTube, but i thought perhaps i would ask for the sake of best methods or thoroughness.

You could start with taking a formal course of statistics at your local university/college.

I personally strongly suggest against "self-medicating" a subject like statistics - if you are serious.

I generally don't have the time to attend a course like that nowadays, but i did take some statistics in college. I did fairly well in it which is why i know how powerful a tool it is, but i didn't have a need to apply it for many years and now, therefore,i was looking to refresh on it and then build from a weak beginner-intermediate background to a solid intermediate usage on my own.

Understood. If I were you I would find a good condition used Discrete Mathematics text and work your way through the text.
Discrete Mathematics, by Goodaire & Parmenter is such a text. Generally you can trust a used book that is marked as very good.

Thank you pka, I'll give that book a try and reach out if i can't figure out how to get through it.
