The sequence generated by the difference equation tn+1=3tn-2 has 22 as the second term. The first term is:

A -2

B 1

C 64

D 8

E 24

is it

\(\displaystyle t_{n+1} \, = 3t_{n} \, - \, 2\)

or

\(\displaystyle t_{n}+1 \, = 3t_{n-2} \,\)

or something else.....

If it is like the first example - let's do a similar but different example

... has 10 as the second term. The first term is:


\(\displaystyle t_{n+1} \, = 3t_{n} \, - \, 2\)

\(\displaystyle t_2 \, = 3t_{1} \, - \, 2\)

\(\displaystyle 10 \, = 3t_{1} \, - \, 2\)

\(\displaystyle t_1 \, = \, 4\)
