Can someone help me out, with this maths question?

I’ve picked an easy example which I know the answer to, but I don’t know how to show the working out.

Someone earns half the wage of someone else
ie.

Person A earns £50 per hour

Person B earns £25 per hour.

So clearly person B earns half of what person A earns.

There is a total sum of money £15,000 to be shared between person A and B based on their hourly rate.

So, person A would get £10,000 and person B would get £5,000.

Can someone show me the workings to arrive at £10,000 and £5,000

How would I apply the above if person A earns £50 per hour and person B earns 44% of what person A earns, and assuming the sum of money to be shared is £20,000.

How much would each person get?

I'll work with $ since it is easier to type on my keyboard.

If A&B work together for 1 hour they would charge $75.

To charge $15000 - how many hours would they have to work? = 15000/75 = 200 hours

Now, A worked 200 hours at the rate $50 /hr. How much would A earn for 200 hours of work?

B worked 200 hours at the rate $25 /hr. How much would A earn for 200 hours of work?

Thank you for taking the time to reply, its much appreciated.

A, worked 200 hours at the rate of $50/ hr. In 200 hours he will have earnt 200 x 50 = $10000.

B, worked 200 hours at the rate of $25/ hr. In 200 hours he will have earnt 200 x 25 = $5000.

$10000 + $5000 = $15000

So, I assume for the second question all I need do is work out what 44% is of $50

$50 x 44 = $22
100

$50 + $22 = $72

$20000 = 277.777777 hours
$72

277.777777 x $50 = $13888.88885

277.777777 x $22 = $6111.111094

$13888.88885 + $6111.111094 = $19999.99994

That’s good enough for me and thank you once again for your help Subhotosh

By the way its not for my school homework, I wish it were I be so much younger ?

Here is how I would do this problem--Subhotosh grew up on a different piece of dirt than me so we process things a little differently.

I would let x = amount that person B earns
I would let 2x = amount that person A earns

Now x + 2x = 15,000
Then 3x = 15,000
Then x = 5000 and 2x = 10,000
