Good Afternoon,

Not sure I’m in the right section here and my question seems so simple compared to the other questions I’ve read on here.

Failed maths at school 25 years ago now re-sitting and struggling to remember the most basic of things.

Can someone look at this tell me the answer and how you worked it out, I’ll put how I did it but pretty sure it is wrong.

14-6 is 8 x 70 = 560. 560 + 990 = 1550

1/5 of that (the discount is 310) take that away leaves £1240.

That divided between 14 of them comes to 88.57.

88.57 euros converted into £ = £71.95 rounded up

Pretty sure this is wrong would be greatful if any help

I don't know how you converted EU to Pounds Sterling but I assume you used some exchange rate off the web.
I'll assume you did that correctly.

88.57 EU is correct.

Your first line clearly makes no sense at all. Please fix it.
14-6 is 8 x 70 = 560. This says 14-6 is 8*70. This is not true at all!.
Why do you think your work is wrong? Which step does not make sense to you?

The exchange rate was given.

Out of curiosity what was part a for this problem (or rather where is part a)??

I assumed that this was problem 6 of section 14! So 14-6 identifies the problem.

My worthless two cents:
blind as a bat
But bats are only blind in the light...

His first line is Good Afternoon. Sorry. :cautious: I am fully aware that it was corny.

The current exchange rate is 1 pound=1.19 EU, giving a smaller answer.
