Since the exercise says to "simplify", not to "evaluate in your calculator, and round to (some number of) digits", I'm not sure what a calculator might have to do with this...?
I will guess, from what you've said, that you haven't been taught about radicals yet, or how to simplify them. Fortunately, this is a fairly simple topic, so it won't take you long to learn it:
Give yourself at least a few hours to work through at least two different online lessons. Once you've learned the basic terms and techniques, please attempt this exercise. If you get stuck, please reply showing all of your work. :idea:
Note: You don't have to go to the trouble of creating images. You can use the formatting explained in Karl's Notes; this lesson is fairly standard, and all the tutors will understand what you mean if you follow the instructions. :wink:
