Directions: simplify each expression fully using only positive exponents

(x4y2)(xy2z4)

I got x5y4z4 as the answer, but looking back on it I don't know whether to add or multiply the exponents since there are parenthases in this expression! Please help. Thanks

(x4y2)(xy2z4)=(x*x*x*x*y*y)(x*y*y*z*z*z*z) = (x*x*x*x*y*y*x*y*y*z*z*z*z) = (x*x*x*x*x*y*y*y*y*z*z*z*z) = x5y4z4

The brackets are unnecessary …
Hi Math_helper. The significance of the given grouping symbols is unclear, as we don't have context. So, I wouldn't say they're unnecessary.

It is true that they may be removed, for simplification.

PS: Too bad the OP hasn't logged in for nine years. I would've liked to ask whether parentheses were an issue with something simpler, like x(x).
