Hi All,
Sorry if Iv posted this in the wrong section Im new to this.
Problem is this..two invoices,first for £4,847 for 43 product F and 14 product A .
Second for £ 3,272, for 32 F and 8 A

Need to convert the following to a simultaneous equation to work out individual price per item of F and A.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Thanks.....Mark

14A + 43F = 4847
8A + 32F = 3272

Solve the way you were taught.

A hint to begin solving the system above: 8 divides evenly into 8, 32, and 3272.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.This is the first time I have ever come into contact with this kind of equation so apologies if questions seem a bit obvious.

This is the part of the equation I am struggling with

56a + 224f = 22904
-56a -172f = -19388
52f = 3516
then divde each term by 52

f = 879/13.......where does this come from?

Thanks.....

That's the correct solution for f; so f is not an integer: perhaps the problem has a typo ?
