Do you know how to figure out correctly the answer for G so the question is G times 5/9 equals 1/3

Do you know how to figure out correctly the answer for G so the question is G times 5/9 equals 1/3
If you don't know any algebra, so that you could write an equation, then you might just think about what it would look like to multiply some fraction times 5/9 and get a product of 1/3: [math]\frac{?}{?}\times\frac{5}{9}=\frac{1}{3}[/math]
Do you see that some canceling will be needed?

Or, you could try the same thing, but write 1/3 with the same denominator as 5/9: [math]\frac{?}{?}\times\frac{5}{9}=\frac{3}{9}[/math]
Or, you might consider that "what times this gives that" can be answered by division, namely "what equals that divided by this". (For example, to answer "what times 2 gives 6?", you would divide 6 by 2.) Have you learned how to divide fractions?

As you can see, the answer to your question depends on what you know, and how you choose to think. That's why we ask you to show us your own thinking when you ask a question:

Of course, if I read your question literally, the answer is simple: "Yes, I do know."

Suppose the problem was

g * 3 = 6

g = ??

Would you be able to solve that?

Let's first make them equal denominator, 1/3 is equal 3/9. So let's solve the question with

G x 5/9 = 3/9

G = 3/9 / 5/9

G = 3/5

You should now that if you multiply 5/9 by 9/5 that you'll get 1. Then if you multiply 1 by 3/9 you'll get 3/9.
Putting this together you get (3/9)(9/5)(5/9) = 3/9. So the answer is whatever (3/9)(9/5) equals.
Just think logically to do what I write above and the answer will magically appear.

G x 5/9 = 3/9

G = 3/9 / 5/9

G = 3/5
mamat, thanks for helping out but we do not supply answers on this math help forum.

Steven,

It was decided to allow publication of complete solutions ~1 week after the original post date.

Even if no original work by OP was displayed........

mamat, look at the Order of Operations for the
second line:

3/9/5/9 =
(1/3)/5/9 =
(1/(3*5))/9 =
(1/15)/9 =
1/(15*9) =
1/135

That is not what you intended. 5/9 must be inside
grouping symbols. For consistency and
clarification, it is good to write the division as:

(3/9)/(5/9). This will now be calculated correctly
by the Order of Operations as (3/9)(9/5) = 3/5.
