need to find the slope of a line parallel to the given line and a line perpendicular to the given line
1. the line containing points M(8,3) and N(-1,5)

First find the slope of the given line, using the Slope Formula. Can you do that part ?

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

You did not ask any questions about this exercise, and I do not know what you've learned so far about slopes.

I mean, where are you stuck ? 8-)

If a line is parallel it will have the same slope as the given line.

The negative reciprocal slope of the given line = the slope of the perpendicular line and vice versa.
