I'm looking to solve for x when there are multiple unknowns.

100 items are available, all with 10 categories ranging from 1-100. I know a range (1-10, 11-20, etc.) of each category, but don't know any number.

I can rank these pieces by giving a weighting to each category. I have to assign 100 points to the weighting, ranking at least 3 categories (and can rank all 10). I cannot assign more than 75 weighting to any ranking.

I can rank and re-rank (using different weighting) as many times as I would like.

Is there a way to solve for the actual numbers (or get as close as possible)?

I need to figure out the actual numbers.

example:

there are 100 different “things”, each with 10 attributes rated 1-100.

we need to stack rank these things by order of importance. to do this, we have to assign 100 points to the attributes and the rank order will change.

if I put 100 points on attribute #1 and ranked them I would be able to tell which one had the highest in that attribute.

however, we have to rank at least 3 attributes and we cannot weight any attribute more than 75.

is There a way to get as close as possible to each attributes actual number?
