Solve the equation: 1/2 log(x+2) + log5 = 1

log(x+2)^1/2 + log5 = 1
log5(x+2)^1/2 = 1

When I get to here, the 5(x+2)^1/2 is throwing me off. Am I even going about this right?

Your start looks fine. Now convert the log equation to its equivalent exponential form:

. . . . .If logb(x) = y,
. . . . .then by = x.

Then solve the resulting radical equation.
