Solve the following word problem completely (Special Parallelograms)

⊿SAP has a segment CB whose endpoints C and B are the midpoints of SA and PA, respectively. The lengths of SA, AP, and PS are 2x - 1 cm, x cm, and x + 1 cm, respectively, and the perimeter of ⊿SAP is 12 cm.

1. Find the length of BC.
2. Solve for the perimeter of the quadrilateral SCBP.

Hello S…007. You didn't reply in your other thread. We hope you were able to finish that exercise.

Please share how far you got in the exercise above. Did you combine the three algebraic expressions given for lengths SA, PA and SP? We're told perimeter SAP is 12, so we have an equation to solve for x.

Are you familiar with the concept known as Similar Triangles? That's one way to find length CB. After we get the value of x, we could use it to calculate lengths SC, CA and SP. Using those lengths, along with the unknown length CB, we could write and solve a proportion for CB.
