I got an extra credit problem and I have no idea how to start solving it:
xy+y+x=11
x^2(y)+y^2(x)=30

xy+y+x=11
x^2(y)+y^2(x)=30

Have you cinsidered factoring to the best of your ability?

y(x+1) + x = 11

xy(x+y) = 30

Tinker with it a little: x + y = 11 - xy, so that xy(11-xy) = 30. There's a relatively simple quadratic in xy.

You could just solve one for something: y = (11-x)/(x+1) and see where it leads.

Exploration!!! That's why it's extra credit.
