So hi colleges I've been trying to learn some college math. Though its a hard subject could you help me learn the first question. I need to know how to solve this problem which is illustrated by example in the book but not the problem.
Evaluate the arithmetic expression
7.
-2+[4*7-5(9-8/2]

[MATH]-2 + \left[4 \cdot 7 - 5\left(9 - \frac{8}{2}\right) \right][/MATH]
if this is a correct expression, evaluate using the order of operations

This is meaningless- there is a "(" with no ")".
The value depends on where the ")" should be
-2+ [4*7- 5(9-8)/2]= -2+ 28- 5/2= 26- 5/2= 52/2- 5/2= 47/2.
But
-2+ [4*7- 5(9- 8/2)]= -2+ 28- 5(9- 4)= -2+ 28- 5(5)= -2+ 28- 25= 26- 25= 1.
