how about this one

x/x-2 - x+1/x=8/x^2-2x

x^2-2x=(x-2)(x+1)

LCD= (x-2)(x+1)

x(x-2)(x+1)-x+1(x-2)(x+1)=8(x-2)(x+1)

not sure what to do from here

x^2-2x=(x-2)(x+1) no ... x2 - 2x = x(x - 2)

LCD= (x-2)(x+1)

x(x-2)(x+1)-x+1(x-2)(x+1)=8(x-2)(x+1)

not sure what to do from here

Does the above mean the following?

. . . . .[ x / (x - 2) ] - [ (x + 1) / x ] = 8 / (x^2 - 2x)

Or something else?

Thank you.

Eliz.

Did you work any further - incorporating Skeeter's correction?

Don't forget that x^2 - 2x = x(x - 2)
Should be easy sailing now :wink:
