Ok Math is not my thing so I need help with this: I have posts that are 8"x 8" square and columns that are 10" round to fit around the posts - my question is will they fit or are they too small in circumference? (This isn't homework. It's my deck) Thanks for your help!

Please clarify what you mean by "columns that are 10" round."

What is the 10"? Is it the radius? Is it the diameter? Is it the circumference?

Hello, mummers!

I have posts that are 8"x 8" square and columns that are 10" diameter to fit around the posts.
Will they fit or are they too small in circumference?

Why not measure a diagonal of the square and see if it is less than 10 inches?
(You'll find that it is over 11 inches.)

That's what I was afraid of...time to pull out the saw then : (

Thanks! Is their construction help on here too, or do I have to find another site? ; )
